Ajman
Known for its white beaches, delightful museum and traditional islamic-influenced souk, Ajman, the
smallest Emirate, also includes Masfut and Manama, The two small enclaves in the Hajar mountains
rich in agriculture and farming.
With an area of just 260 square kilometers, Ajman is centrally located on the western coast of the
UAE. History is evident through the emirate as exemplified in the fine old watchtower at the town’s
entrance and the large fort in the centre of town.
Ajman is noted as the world’s largest boat building yard and even more as the biggest dhow building
centre, where wooden ocean-going vessels are built using traditional tools and manual skills with
the same techniques that have been handed down through generations, all without blueprints. The
yards also craft the speedsters that take part in the annual Dubai powerboat meets.
